Binita Desai
Professor of Design
Binita Desai is an acclaimed academician with nearly four decades of experience in academics. Of the 39 years, she spent 17 years at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, freelanced for 6 years and spent the next 22 years at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology. She began her education with a BFA in Applied Arts at Maharaja Shivaji Rao University, Baroda and went on to do her post-graduation at NID Ahmedabad from 1980-85. Her areas of interest are animation, illustration, exhibition design, and colour. She was awarded a short-term professional training fellowship conducted in London by UNDP. She has taught courses in animation, basic graphic design, illustration and audio-visual. She has also taught courses in ‘nature and form’, ‘space form’ and 'structure' to foundation students. She has an interest in the theoretical aspects of design methodology. She has developed and contributed to design courses for several reputed design universities in India.
