Scholarships

We are committed to enabling access to high quality design education through scholarships based on merit, financial capability, special needs, as well as scholarships to ensure diversity in gender and geography.

Merit & Means Based Scholarships

The scholarships ensure that deserving students are not held back from receiving high quality design education at BITS Design School due to financial constraints. The aim is to empower and uplift our students to pursue their passions and reach their full potential.

To be eligible for the Merit & Means Based scholarship, the student's annual family income (parents'/guardians') must not be more than ₹18,00,000. The merit of the student will be holistically assessed through their BITS Design School application form, including design test scores, academic achievement, co/extra-curricular achievements, and their portfolio interview.

The Merit & Means Based Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver of up to 90% and it will be awarded in each year of the 4-year programme, subject to 'Note - 4'.

Academic Merit Scholarship

The scholarships recognise and support high-performing, well rounded students who have demonstrated a clear passion for design education and a hunger for excellence.

The merit of the student will be holistically assessed through their BITS Design School application form, including design test scores, academic achievement, co/extra-curricular achievements, and their portfolio interview. All students are considered by default for the Academic Merit Scholarship. The Academic Merit Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver of up to 75% and it will be awarded in each year of the 4-year design programme, subject to 'Note - 4'.

Diversity Scholarship

The scholarship helps create an inclusive and diverse community of designers i.e. a community of changemakers who will drive progress and innovation in the design industry while contributing to the development of the society at large.

It will be awarded to exceptional third gender students, students from underrepresented regions*, and students with physical disabilities, as described in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The Diversity Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver of up to 75% and it will be awarded in each year of the 4-year design programme, subject to 'Note - 4'.

* Includes but may not be limited to - Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Jammu & Kashmir, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Puducherry, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, and Sikkim.

Note:

In order to avail any BITSDES scholarship, the student must:
• Be a citizen of India• Have completed grade 10 and grade 12 from a recognised board• Have received an offer of admission from BITS Design School for its 4-year B Des (Hons) programme• Meet the specific mandated criteria mentioned against each category

Considerations for scholarships will be accounted for after due evaluation of the student's application form and documents provided. The BITSDES Admissions Committee will take the final decision on the scholarship and nature of the waiver provided.

Scholarships offered by BITSDES are mutually exclusive and cannot be combined. If a student qualifies for more than 1 type of scholarship, they will be offered the scholarship with the higher tuition fee waiver, but will not be offered the sum of two or more tuition fee waivers.

Scholarships are reviewed and awarded annually based on the student's academic performance and conduct, attendance, and payment of tuition and residential fee. All scholarships awarded are renewed or revoked as per the BITSDES scholarship policy.
